Hope's Door
Hope's Door mission is to offer intervention and pre vention
services to individuals and families impacted by
domestic abuse and to provide educational programs that
enhance the community's capacity to respond. Hope's Door
is a shelter and counseling center that offers
comprehensive programs and services that are designed to
help break the cycle of domestic abuse. Hope's Door
provides direct intervention and prevention services to
families affected by domestic abuse in Collin County,
Dallas County, and surrounding areas.
When Hope's Door first opened its doors in 1986, the
agency operated a 24-hour crisis line, but did not have
the space to provide shelter. Clients were housed at
local hotels. In 1989, the agency opened its own shelter
and began providing temporary housing to victims of
domestic abuse. Since 1989, Hope's Door has provided
safe shelter for over 3,787 women and their children,
and answered over 16,000 crisis line calls. Hope's Door
is governed by a 28-member volunteer board of directors

Mother/Daughter Tea
Frisco
Women’s League (FWL) hosted its third annual Mother-Daughter
Tea on Saturday, April 26 at the Stonebriar Country Club.
Funds raised at the event will benefit the Collin County
Children’s Advocacy Center, an organization dedicated to
assisting and protecting children of Collin County who are
victims of abuse or neglect.
The Mother-Daughter Tea celebrated
mothers and daughters of all ages with over 200 in
attendance, and included a luncheon, style show, silent
auction, and children’s crafts.
The goal of our Mother-Daughter Tea was
to raise $10,000, and we far exceeded that amount with exact
figures coming soon. “Everyone on our Tea Committee worked
with such passion in planning and raising money for this
event. I am honored to be a part of it”, Lisa Statzer,
Chair.
We would like to give a special thanks to our 2008 sponsors
including Prosper Bank, Vitro Packaging, Inc., Gab Designs,
Solare Spa and Café, futureperfect, and Drug Crafters
Pharmacy. Frisco Women’s League would also like to thank
style show sponsors Little Heiress and Distinctively Hers
for a very entertaining show.
The Miracle League of
Frisco

In December 2007, Frisco Women's League participated in
Barnes & Noble Gift Wrapping and raised $395 to benefit The
Miracle League of Frisco. The Miracle League organizes
sports leagues for special needs children. They offer
bowling, baseball and soccer. This summer they are adding
cheerleading and gymnastics. They have children who come
from all over North Texas to Frisco just to have the
opportunity to play. Frisco Women's League is honored to be
able to support such a worthy organization.

Carter Blood Care, Wiggles Play Center, and the Frisco Women's
League partnered up as a team to donate blood in honor of a
child with a childhood disease. The event was held on Sunday,
March 2nd. The event was a success and we had 44 donors and 2
blood mobiles.
This
year they donated in honor of a special boy named Gage. Gage
Holmes is a 5 year old boy who lives in Dallas with his
three sisters. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia
last June. He is currently in the maintenance phase of tackling
this disease with spinal taps, doses of steroids, and daily
chemo until September 2010. Donating to the blood drive in his
name will help him receive credit when he needs blood
transfusions over the next several years, plus your blood type
could go towards someone else's child with a compatible blood
type. Sadly, many children are in need of blood everyday. For
updates on Gage, please click on his photo.
Message from
Stacey Reed, FWL Member and Event Coordinator:

each and every one of you for your efforts with the blood drive

all were wonderful! Thank you again to a wonderful committee. I
truly appreciate all of your help and effort to make this a true
success! There were 44 donors! 2 blood mobiles! WOW!"
