Message from
the President
Welcome
back to an exciting new year for Frisco Women’s League. I am
happy to introduce our 2008-2009 Board of Directors and very
eager to show you the rewards of our hard work.
It is the
Presidents role to select a new platform for each new year.
For 2008-2009 I have designated the platform to be
"Preparing for the Future." We cannot control what the
future holds, but we can prepare ourselves for it. FWL will
work with organizations whose missions are to assist people
through financial, physical and emotional hardships to give
them a brighter future. An example of this is our
dedication to the success of A Date With Santa that benefits
Hope's Door Women’s Shelter. Many of you also participated
in the FFSC Back to School Drive.
Thanks to you a child's school year will start off a little
easier, with less strain on their family. I am looking
forward to a wonderfully productive and inspiring year.
Thank you for your dedication to FWL

FWL Scholarship Recipients

Frisco Women’s League developed a Scholarship foundation to
award scholarships to qualified applicants who have a vision
of how a college education will benefit themselves and their
communities. We are proud to announce that the scholarships
for the 2009 - 2010 school year went to Bree Vasquez and
Lauren Barsch.
Bree Vasquez is our very own
member of Jr. FWL. She is graduating from Liberty High
School in June with a 3.479/4.0 GPA. She has lived in
Frisco for just over 2 years and in that time has served
over 200 community service hours and volunteers with 7
non-profit organizations. She has
attended the Lead America Congressional Student
Leadership Conference and Teen Leadership classes, where she
learned what qualities it takes to be a leader.
Bree currently serves on the
City of Frisco’s Mayor’s Youth Council and holds leadership
positions in the Day with the Mayor Program and Relay for
Life program. She submitted a glowing recommendation from
Mr. Maso as part of her application.
In the Fall, Bree will
continue her education at Collin College here in Frisco,
where she is already enrolled and was taking classes
concurrently with her senior classes.
Lauren
Barsch is graduating from Frisco High School in June with a
3.362 / 4.00 GPA.
She has served over 150
hours of community service with various organizations in
Frisco and has shown true commitment to volunteerism through
her work every Saturday for the past two years with the
Frisco chapter of the Miracle League.
Of her own accord, Lauren
contacted a brand marketer at Frito Lay where she observes
marketing techniques and gains hands on experience in the
field that she plans to major in at next year at college.
Lauren has been excepted to Oklahoma University and will
begin classes in the Fall.
Congratulations, Ladies!
